Yeah, as others have mentioned, that's Genealogy in a nutshell, with characters having a fixed rank on a weapon/weapons (from C to A for normal units, and S/Star ranked for those with super-duper special Holy Blood weapons). That’s my hot take and I’m sticking with it. The skill systems in recent games provide enough flexibility for this to be possible. All Heroes should have A Sword and B Axe ranks. Rimusutera fucked around with this message at 19:59 on Oct 7, 2020 According to the FE wiki:Įrgo, for each progress you need the following amount of additional WEXP each time. I'm just gonna actually copy post them here for everyone's convenience, because just saying "look it up" is actually kinda unnecessarily passive aggressive of me. It's obviously worse for some kids who probably don't want to stick in their default line (like Midori or Dwyer) compared to someone like Ophelia, though. Which makes the trade-off with them become 'do I recruit them earlier so I can actually use them in X class or recruit them late so I don't have to invest exp into them'. This is a bigger issue for the kids since they're designed to immediately promote to a new class if late enough but they still start at E rank if you switch out of their default class line. I think the issue is that someone who sticks to the same weapon(s) for nearly their entire playtime can still end up at only C or B ranks. Higher ranks do matter, but only for Brave weapon access and certain Sorcerer shenanigans, and the units who want to use those things start out with the right weapon ranks to eventually qualify. And the skill combos are usually better because damage skill stacking is a thing and forged bronze weapons are fantastic. Sick skill combos and access to new roles are your reward for changing classes. High weapon ranks are your reward for sticking with the unit’s default role.
